OK so then I got an error about no packages being available and got stuck in an El Capitan install loop.
My friend told me that setting the time to today was a mistake and that I should use the following command to set a date in 2017:
I used terminal and typed: date -u {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year} but replacing each variable with a two figure number, in this case:
date 0101000017I did this mid install loop and after a reboot it installed as expected. =d>
