Yes, there are a few ways to reset the BIOS password on your MSI gaming PC:

1. Use the BIOS Backdoor Password

  • Some MSI motherboards have built-in backdoor passwords. When prompted for a password, try entering AMI, Award, or Phoenix, depending on the BIOS manufacturer.

  • If that doesn’t work, you can try generic manufacturer passwords (searching online for your specific motherboard might help).

2. Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

  • Method 1: Using the CMOS Jumper

    1. Turn off the PC and unplug it.

    2. Open the case and locate the CMOS jumper (usually labeled JBAT1).

    3. Move the jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3, wait about 10 seconds, then move it back.

    4. Plug everything back in and power on your PC.

    5. The BIOS should now be reset to factory defaults.

  • Method 2: Removing the CMOS Battery

    1. Turn off and unplug your PC.

    2. Open the case and locate the CMOS battery (a small silver coin-cell battery on the motherboard).

    3. Remove the battery and wait 5–10 minutes (some recommend pressing the power button while the battery is out to drain residual power).

    4. Reinsert the battery and power the PC back on.

3. Try BIOS Flashing (Last Resort)

  • If clearing the CMOS doesn’t work, flashing the BIOS to the latest version (or the same version) may reset the password.

  • Download the BIOS update from MSI’s official website and follow their update instructions.
