Why is my Windows 10 update history blank?

I've installed loads of updates?

Apparently when Microsoft releases a comprehensive update, it resets the Windows version type and wipes all updates prior to that version of Windows being installed. Obviously the Settings/Windows Update/Advanced options/View your update history is cleared at this point as the updates no longer exist in the new version of Windows.

The problem with this official Microsoft explanaion is that it's bo**ocks.

I can see updates in the uninstall window
