Is there a reason to buy a nvme disk and a nvme sata adapter?

Would my SATA interface handle the greater speeds or would it be just the way it is now?

If your motherboard doesn't have an M2 port, then you should get a PCIe adapter for your NVME drives that will allow you to directly use the new architecture. If you use your SAT?A interface then you will lose some of the benefit but it may still be faster than it was through SSD and SATA.
