I am using one of two laptops depending on where I am.

A Windows 7 8GB quad-core and an Windows 10 8GB quad-core

The thing is that on the Windows 10 machine the SharePoint 2103 we use in Explorer flies - I mean it is as fast as a normal file system. Andy yet on my Windows 7 machine it is INCREDIBLY slow - no matter what I do.

NB!!! SOLUTION - Make sure you have taken the 'automatically detect settings' tick out of the box under the proxy settings section of the connections tab in internet Explorer (no matter which browser you are using) as otherwise it tends to try and discover the settings every time you click 😞
