I am struggling to get my 2016 server standard edition to speak to my 2012R2 even though it happily speaks to the other.

After a restart I have to run a WinRm quickconfig to get the 2012R2 box to appear in the Hyper-V admin on the 2016

But I still get that error in the command prompt at start-up of the service:

Somehow the HTTPS box for Hyper-V replication had been ticked on the 2012R2 server - not sure how - but removing the tick has returned all to normal.
