Having just migrated a Microsoft NAV 2016 system from VMWare to Hyper-V we are seeing the following error when trying to start the application to access the system:

Cannot connect to the server because of a protocol mismatch.

This can be caused by the client and server having incompatible credential settings (ClientServicesCredentialType). Contact your system administrator.

What can we do?

Well after much changing of settings we did eventually get the server to listen on navuserpassword option of ClientServicesCredentialType and we had to use a non domain user and password to access which was luckily left as the default login. The system appears to have been configured as neither sql or windows login which was annoying, but we have access now.
